Tina Vo, Children's Blood Drive

The Children's National Medical Center brings a new meaning to "blood drive" on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, as a team comes to the University of Maryland, College Park in a "bloodmobile." The "bloodmobile" is a fully-functioning bus that carries everything needed for a blood drive.

Inside the "bloodmobile," Sonya McConnell (middle, standing), blood donor recruiter, speaks with Perryn Miller (right, standing), aphaeresis technician, as he finishes checking on a donor's progress. 

Junior Public Health major, Chloie Reyes, 20, donates blood for her first time. She was a little nervous but made it through with no problems.

A medical technician draws a blood sample from a donor candidate to check if the candidate's blood meets the requirements needed to donate.

The first two donors of the day, Chloie Reyes and Shannon Morken, Senior Cell Biology major, 23, lay across the bus from each other while donating. The two must continue to squeeze the foam ball to keep the blood flowing from their arm into the bag.

Women and the Word: "The Revival Movie" Screening

In the Atrium located in Stamp at the University of Maryland on March 2, 2016 Jonquille Rice, singer/host and Jade Foster, founder/poet of the screening "The Revival Movie" sit and watch the film Foster produced sharing fond memories of going on tour around the country. 

The attendees for the screening of the film sat together in a large circle, beginning the Q&A session located in the Atrium in Stamp at the University of Maryland. 

The ninety minute film starring seven queer African American women including; poets, singers, and musicians documenting their time touring the country visiting many different spoken word lesbian establishments. 

After viewing it plenty of times, Jonquille Rice and Jade Foster watch the film that was created to build the community of African American queer women, and occupy living rooms all across the country.

Al Gore Visits UMD

Hundreds of students, faculty, staff, and others gather to hear Former Vice President Al Gore speak in the Dekelboum Concert Hall at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland Tuesday, March 1. Gore came to the university to speak about the future of climate action.

Gore answers a student's question during the Q&A section of the event, hosted by the university's School of Public Policy. He is accompanied on stage by Robert Orr, the dean of the public policy school. 

The Dekelboum Concert Hall is packed as students wait for the chance to ask Gore questions related to climate action,

Gore takes a student question from the balcony. Event staff did not allow students seated in the balcony to move downstairs in order to participate in the Q&A session.

Latino Student Union: Coffee All Around The World

Latino Student Union had coffee from different parts of the world for students to try as they studied for their midterms.

Students came to try international coffee and study together for upcoming midterms.

Julianne Maxwell- Condom Fashion Show

 Baskets set out at the Condom Fashion Show at the University of Maryland on March 2, 2016 held free condoms and other forms of protection to enforce safe sex. The show was put on in honor of sex week which takes place the first week in March.
