Sophomore journalism major David Thompson, 19, is a very involved student at Maryland. "Academics count, but what you do outside the classroom and how you impact your campus is as important." |
Thompson's faith is very important to him. He spends his summers as a counselor at Camp Hope, a Christian work camp that repairs and renovates homes in western Maryland. |
After transferring from Salisbury University this year, Thompson got involved right away at UMTV, the campus television network. |
Thompson: "UMTV is a real-world application of what I plan on doing when I graduate. It's experience that cannot be matched in a classroom." |
Thompson joked that he loves to play soccer in his free time, if he ever gets any. |
