Family Weekend Ice Cream Social

University of Maryland students and their families file in to Stamp Student Union to enjoy the Family Weekend Ice Cream Social on Sunday. The social was just one of several events the university held for the visiting families during the annual family weekend.

WWII Memorial/Lincoln Memorial Protests 10/13/13

UMD vs. Virginia — 10/12/13

Football fans stream into the south entrance of the University of Maryland's Byrd Stadium at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12.  A week removed from a 63-0 clubbing at the hands of Florida State, the Terrapins take on the Virginia Cavaliers in their second ACC matchup.

Keith Moore, a.k.a. "Special K," keeps the Maryland student section lively during the Terrapins 27-26 victory over Virginia on Oct. 12. Moore, who is a professional speaker and promoter on weekdays, calls himself a "Terps superfan."

Despite intermittent rain showers, over 40,000 people attend the Maryland-Virginia border battle football game on Oct. 12. Wet Terrapins fans are rewarded in the final seconds as Cavalier kicker Alec Vozenilek shanks a field goal that would have taken the lead.

Wegmans Grand Opening

Sunflowers and roses elegantly comprise the famous Wegmans Fall Signature Bouquet, selling for $22.00 on Sunday, Oct. 13. The Fall Signature Bouquet is one of Wegmans' best selling bouquets this time of year.

Cheese artisan and Wegmans employee Hailey Branscome dons her Seahawks jersey on Oct 13. at Wegmans in Germantown, MD. Wegmans is lenient when it comes to the employee dress code, encouraging staff members to root for their teams by sporting their spirit-wear.

Customers fill up every cash register of the Wegmans on Sunday, anxiously awaiting their turn to buy their goods. The Wegmans has over 25 cash registers and makes use of each one in hopes of maximizing purchases and minimizing wait times.

Students at the University of Maryland shop for fresh fruit and vegetables at The Farmers Market on campus on Wednesday, Oct. 9.  The Farmers Market is open every wednesday, April through Nov., to offer students the opportunity to purchase healthy, locally grown produce.

Bethany Hooper City Council Meeting Event 10/08/13

Mary Cook expresses her opposition to the College Park City Council's proposed salary increase at Tuesday night's City Council meeting. Cook, a resident of College Park and a former council member, does not want to see her taxes being used for a large pay raise.   

Concerned residents gather at the College Park City Council Meeting on Tuesday night to hear the City Council's vote for the salary increase. The Council allows members of the community to express their thoughts in the open session. 

Tim Miller takes the podium to voice his opposition to the salary increase in Tuesday night's College Park City Council meeting. Miller is a concerned resident of the community and does not think the City Council deserves a substantial pay raise.
