Tina Vo, Doro's Cute Crafts

Dorothy Nguyen, 22, of Silver Spring, Maryland, continues working on her latest project, a large patchwork-like blanket on Wednesday, March 23, 2016. She crochets items from stuffed animals to blankets and scarves to sell at conventions and on her Etsy shop.
Nguyen says she seriously started crocheting two years ago when she was still in college and made presents for her friends as she was procrastinating finals. "Crocheting is actually pretty easy. After making everyone's presents, I realized that everything I wanted to make was just circles and ovals of varying sizes."
A central appeal to her creations are that the items are cute and colorful. Nguyen hugs several yarn threads and has more yarn scattered across the floor to display just a fraction of all the vividly colored yarn she owns.
Nguyen sits on a couch surrounded by many of her small stuffed animals and characters from movies and video games. She hugs one of the bigger stuffed characters she has made, a Totoro from the movie, "My Neighbor Totoro."
Nguyen also creates wearable items such as this unique hat with long sides that can used as a scarf. She adds a personal touch of cuteness by adding ears.
