Global Communities Cultural Dinner - Focus on Nigeria by Angelo Bavaro

Global Communities living and learning program hosted its annual cultural dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2014 in Dorchester Hall. The event aimed to immerse students in Nigerian culture by offering staple foods prepared by Chef Julia Offiong of Calbra Classics.

Chef Julia Offiong teaches Global Communities students how to make Nigerian fried rice in the Dorchester Hall kitchen. Offiong said the dish is the perfect fit for college students because it is quick and simple to cook.

Suya, Nigerian chicken skewers, proved a crowd favorite at the dinner. The skewers' unique flavor is attributed to their seasoning of garlic powder, ground ginger, paprika and cayenne powder.
